Harvest Table inspired by 250+ year Old Long Leaf Pine

A “New Home ” with a view!

It has been a while since the last post. We have been busy in the shop creating various projects. The latest creation using our stash of 250+ year old Long Leaf Pine is a harvest table to seat 10 people. We tried to keep this project as rustic as possible using a warm brown antique wax finish, rough rustic Dutchman (the bow-ties)breadboard ends and leaving the wood surface rough with character. The dutch-man actually serve two purposes here. The first purpose is to hide some of the holes left by pipes that used to run through the beams. The second purpose is to tie together the boards and prevent cracks in the boards from splitting further.[slideshow] Our next project is using the antique Long Leaf Pine to build a couple of stave snare drums.
